Our vital role in the international funders’ landscape
Over the past two years, as the global community has responded to the different challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic, the vital role of GloPID-R in the international funders’ landscape has become increasingly clear. With the significant health, social and economic impacts of successive waves of COVID-19, the importance of coordinating research funders and funding in order to be better prepared to respond to infectious disease outbreaks swiftly and effectively is more apparent than ever before.

Instituto Butantan conducts pioneering study to assess the effectiveness of CoronaVac/Sinovac vaccine
The Instituto Butantan in São Paulo, Brazil has funded a study to assess the impact of the CoronaVac/Sinovac vaccine on the incidence of cases among immunized individuals as well as COVID-19-related hospitalizations and deaths, and the indirect effects of the vaccine among unvaccinated individuals.

The aim of this call from Wellcome Trust is to support multidisciplinary teams to help improve the understanding of the biological significance of SARS-CoV-2 variants, focused on laboratory investigations in immunology, virology or structural biology.

ERINHAERINHA-Advance TNA Call for Proposals
In light of the continuing pandemic, ERINHA has renewed its commitment to supporting scientific users by extending ERINHA-Advance TNA activities and has launched a third call for proposals dedicated to SARS-CoV-2 / COVID-19, with a special emphasis on variants of concern.
Application deadline: the ERINHA-Advance TNA budget has been increased and this call will remain open as long as funds remain available.
Events
World Health Summit 2022
The 2022 edition of the World Health Summit (WHS) will take place from October 16 to 18 in Berlin, Germany and virtually.
This will be a high-level meeting and the first summit organised in collaboration with WHO. A joint WHS-WHO event is planned to take place every three years in the future.
GloPID-R General Assembly 2022
The GloPID-R General Assembly will be held immediately following the WHS, from October 19 to 20 in Berlin.
This will be the first in-person GloPID-R General Assembly since January 2019, and we sincerely look forward to welcoming our members, observers and stakeholders from all corners of the globe.
