GloPID-R has worked alongside our members and partners to facilitate coordination of funders since the start of the global health crisis. Together we have focused on identifying and addressing the most urgent research and policy priorities.
The COVID-19 timeline presents GloPID-R’s initiatives as well as global actions since December 31, 2019 when cases of pneumonia of unknown cause were reported in Wuhan, China.
The UKCDR/GloPID-R COVID-19 Research Project Tracker is one of the most comprehensive resources on COVID-19 research funding globally. This tool is updated fortnightly and helps funders identify gaps and opportunities and inform future research investments or coordination needs. This live database provides information about projects financed by research funders in nearly 160 different countries across the globe, which are mapped against the priorities identified in the WHO Coordinated Global Research Roadmap.
UKCDR/GloPID-R also produce the quarterly Living Mapping Review of COVID-19 funded research projects , which analyses globally funded COVID-19 related research to make full use of the data in the Tracker.

The COVID CIRCLE Researcher Coordination Platform is a joint initiative launched in July 2020 by UKCDR and GloPID-R. It focuses on facilitating information sharing about COVID-19 research and bringing together the global research community working in and for low-resource settings.
“The COVID CIRCLE program is an excellent demonstration of global collaboration furthering the impact of research funding and advancing science. Improving coordination ensures that research funding is channeled to where the need is greatest and resources are lowest.”
