Wellcome Open Research publishes Pandemic PACT research funding protocol

The Pandemic PACT team* has published a study protocol in Wellcome Open Research on 20 March 2024. 

‘A protocol for a living mapping review of global research funding for infectious diseases with a pandemic potential – PANDEMIC PACT’ outlines the scope, content and methods used for the living mapping review (LMR) associated with this innovative new programme. It explains the design of the underlying global research funding database and describes the search strategy and data extraction approaches used to collect the data and populate the database.

The team plans to publish a baseline and update LMRs every six months for the Pandemic PACT grant funding database. The LMRs will provide regular analyses on the trends and alignment of the research funding landscape for infectious diseases with pandemic potential and broader pandemic preparedness. In the future, this work will inform a more coordinated, evidence-based approach to research funding with a particular focus on low- and middle-income countries.
