Mérieux Foundation seeks Scientific and Advocacy Director for the GloPID-R Secretariat
Since 2015, the GloPID-R alliance has been pursuing its objectives to increase preparedness and facilitate rapid research response to outbreaks with pandemic potential. Never has this work been more relevant and vital than it is today during the COVID-19 pandemic.
In this context the Mérieux Foundation is seeking to appoint a Scientific and Advocacy Director for the GloPID-R Secretariat, to lead the alliance on strategy, scientific operations, advocacy, communication and development.
He/she will continue and proactively develop the coordination of the network of 31 funding organizations and scientific institutions investing in research related to new or re-emerging infectious diseases. The role involves working closely with the GloPID-R Board of Chairs, Scientific Advisors, Members and Observers (including WHO) and with the thematic Working groups. Within the Secretariat, the Scientific and Advocacy Director will collaborate with the teams at the University of Oxford and at the Mérieux Foundation and, outside of GloPID-R, with the key players engaged in global preparedness and response to infectious disease threats.
With an initial MD or PhD background, the candidate for this post should have at least 10 years confirmed, professional experience notably in international networks. The experience sought, in infectious diseases, epidemiology and/or as a research scientist includes field research in international epidemics and clinical studies; working within major, international partnerships in global health and expertise in communication and advocacy within international networks.
