GloPID-R’s work showcased in latest IPPS Report

The International Pandemic Preparedness Secretariat (IPPS) launched their fourth implementation report on January 31, 2025. The report was unveiled during an in-person event co-convened with the South African Department of Health and the South African Medical Research Council (SAMRC) in Cape Town.

About the Implementation Report

The 2024 Implementation Report highlighted that while there have been bright spots at the national level, the world remains insufficiently prepared for a 100-day response to a future pandemic. The report is accompanied by the second iteration of the 100DM scorecard, which shows that critical gaps persist, particularly in the development and deployment of diagnostics and therapeutics for diseases with pandemic potential.

The report showcases much of the Global Research Collaboration for Infectious Disease Preparedness (GloPID-R)’s work, including Pandemic PACT and the GloPID-R Funders Living Roadmap for Clinical Trial Coordination , which have been instrumental in supporting the coordination of clinical trials for an effective outbreak response. GloPID-R’s Africa Hub has also contributed significantly to advancing progress on delivering the 100-Day Mission.

GloPID-R Chair and Chief Research Operations Officer at SAMRC, Mongezi Mdhluli, co-chaired a workshop titled, ‘Building R&D Ecosystems for Pandemic Preparedness and Response’ at the event.
