GloPID-R Members join stakeholders and decision-makers at World Health Summit
From October 27-29, The World Health Summit, one of the world’s leading forums for global health, will take place in Berlin hosting 10 ministers from around the world. This event will draw 300 speakers and 2,500 participants from 100 countries, including Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus the Director-General of the World Health Organization (WHO).
Several GloPID-R members and Chairs will attend and, indeed, intervene at this prestigious event, among them Yazdan Yazdanpanah (INSERM), Jeremy Farrar (Wellcome Trust), Barbara Kerstiens (European Commission) and Eung Soo Hwang (National Research Foundation of Korea). Gilles Bloch (INSERM) and Frederik Kristensen (CEPI) will also speak.
Climate and health will be one of the main focuses at the World Health Summit 2019. Other program topics of particular interest are: European Initiatives for Health R&D and global partnerships (WS02); Capacity Building in Health Research in Low-Resource Settings (WS 13) and Prioritizing Infectious Diseases for Surveillance in Africa (WS 12).
Investing in funding research capacity is one of GloPID-R’s motivations and members actively participate with WHO and other leading institutions on research preparedness and response.
