Call for Proposal to Establish an International Network of Social Science Expertise
The European Union released call for proposal to establish an international network of social science expertise under its Horizon 2020 funding program.
GloPID-R and the Joint Initiative Programming on Antimicrobial Resistance (JPI-AMR) both identified a need to establish these social science centers to better address governance challenges when it comes to preparing and responding to outbreaks. The goal is to battle infectious disease at every level: local, regional, national, and global.
This proposal comes under the topic of “Establishment of an International Network of Social Sciences Research Centres to help address governance and other challenges in the preparedness for and the response to infectious threats” and is funded for up to three million euros. The application deadline is April 18, 2018.
The proposals will work to establish the International Network of Social Sciences and also strengthen research capacity to allow social science researchers to advance knowledge such as infectious disease preparedness and response efforts. Research collaboration as well as engaging researchers and policymakers is a priority of this initiative. Also, the Network will be a source to provide advice during a public health emergency.
