Update on GloPID-R Africa Hub activities

Pandemic PACT launch

The GloPID-R Africa Hub Secretariat lead will participate in the Pandemic PACT launch on March 20, 2024. We have been invited to take part in the panel discussion on ‘Lessons learned from the COVID-19 pandemic and our preparedness moving forward.’ Given our extensive experience in global health research and collaboration, particularly through the SAMRC and Cochrane SA, supporting the living Rapid Research Needs Appraisals (RRNAs) to identify knowledge gaps across pre-defined clinical domains will undoubtedly enrich the discussions at the PACT launch. This event promises to be a pivotal moment for reflecting on our response to pandemics and shaping future strategies for preparedness and response.

Africa Hub stakeholder consultation meeting

In April 2024, we will organize the GloPID-R Africa Hub Stakeholder Consultation Meeting. The aim is to bring together influential voices, including the Hub’s Regional Advisory Group and key stakeholders such as Africa CDC, WHO Afro, and the GloPID-R Central Secretariat. With a focus on collaboration and strategic planning, this meeting will help shape our collective efforts and future activities of the Africa Hub. We will provide more news and updates as we work together to chart a course towards developing impactful solutions.

Upcoming Webinars

The GloPID-R Africa Hub is set to increase its visibility through a series of regular webinars. As well as amplifying the impact and reach of the GloPID-R Africa Hub, these webinars will serve as a platform to showcase the Hub’s initiatives, foster dialogue, and engage with a diverse audience of stakeholders. Stay tuned for announcements on upcoming webinars as we strive to enhance collaboration and drive innovation in addressing health emergencies across the African continent.
