ANRS MIE Scientific Facilitation, Strategic Projects, Partnerships, and More
Scientific Facilitation
ANRS MIE has been designated by the World Health Organization (WHO) to lead a Collaborative Open Research Consortium (CORC) focused on filoviruses and will become a WHO Collaborating Center. CORCs are international networks of research institutions established by WHO, each dedicated to a specific family of pathogens with pandemic potential. Their main goal is to enhance global pandemic preparedness through collaborative research by identifying key research priorities, promoting knowledge sharing, and accelerating the development of countermeasures against emerging threats.
Strategic Projects
ANRS MIE is involved in the CSA CoMeCT (Coordination Mechanism for Cohorts and Trials), which aims to coordinate clinical research efforts at the European level. Specifically, ANRS MIE co-leads the Outbreak Response Board (ORB), which is responsible for developing decision-making frameworks for clinical research responses to infectious disease outbreaks and providing scientific assessments of research needs. Over the past six months, ORB has worked with the European Commission to identify clinical research priorities for Mpox (following the August 2024 Public Health Emergency of International Concern) and H5N1 (in response to the rapid spread of avian influenza in the U.S.).
Partnerships: BE READY and BE READY PLUS
Since 2022, ANRS MIE has coordinated the CSA BE READY, and in 2025, it began coordinating CSA BE READY PLUS, both funded by Horizon Europe and aimed at preparing the future European Partnership on Pandemic Preparedness.
Under BE READY, ANRS MIE led the development of the Strategic Research and Innovation Agenda (SRIA), a guiding scientific document for the future partnership. To collect feedback from the research community, policymakers, and other stakeholders, an online consultation on the SRIA was held in Fall 2024.
Under BE READY PLUS, ANRS MIE will help establish the operational framework for the future partnership, particularly its scientific strategy, and contribute to implementing a European, ever-warm network of clinical research sites.
The BE READY NOW proposal for the European Partnership for Pandemic Preparedness has been positively evaluated by the European Commission and is now in the Grant Agreement Preparation phase.

ANRS MIE Events
Arbo-France Symposium
The Arbo-France network will host a scientific symposium from June 23–24, 2025, focused on innovative mosquito control strategies against arbovirus vectors, particularly the use of Wolbachia. The event will foster cross-disciplinary discussions, integrating modeling, social sciences, and vector control strategy evaluations, with a strong emphasis on strengthening ties with overseas territories.
Scientific Days of ANRS MIE
The Scientific Days of ANRS MIE will take place from April 1–2, 2025, at the International Conference Center (CIS) of the Institut Pasteur in Paris, France. The event will focus entirely on the challenges of international research, a key theme for the agency. Register to attend online here.
Scientific Days – ANRS MIE Partner Site in Senegal
The Scientific Days of ANRS MIE’s Partner Site in Senegal will be held from May 12–14, 2025, in Dakar and online.
