Scientific Advisory Board (SAB)

The Scientific Advisory Board (SAB) is pleased to announce the nomination of its two new members, Professors Jodie McVernon and Vinh-Kim Nguyen. The addition of these members rounds out the SAB panel competencies bringing with them an expertise in epidemiology, modeling, and social sciences.

Jodie McVernon is Director of Epidemiology at the Peter Doherty Institute for Infection and Immunity. She is on the Executive Board of the Australian Partnership for Preparedness Research on Infectious Disease Emergencies (APPRISE) and leads an NHMRC Centre of Research Excellence (PRISM2). Her work has directly influenced pandemic preparedness and response, and immunization strategy, in Australia and internationally.

Vinh-Kim Nguyen is a medical anthropologist and practicing physician who works in infectious diseases and emergency care working on the frontlines of global health efforts particularly in West Africa since 1994. He conducts research on antimicrobial resistance, Ebola and HIV and teaches at the Graduate Institute in Geneva as well as in the Schools of Public Health in Beirut and Montreal, and currently advises the Institut national de la santé et de la recherche médicale (INSERM), Médecins sans frontières (MSF) and the WHO on global health issues.
