GloPID-R Frontiers Meeting, London
On December 17 and 18, 2019, GloPID-R will hold a Frontiers Meeting in London on finding synergies between the GloPID-R Clinical Trial Networks and Emerging Pathogen Cohorts for Epidemic Research, Preparedness and Response.
This meeting will bring together GloPID-R members, its Clinical Trial Network working group and member-funded cohorts on emerging diseases along with other key stakeholders involved in emerging epidemic and pandemic preparedness and response. During this important event, participants will explore synergies and identify how these groups might collaborate in the event of an emergency epidemic or pandemic and thus contribute to global health security.
The aim of this meeting is to advance preparedness for emerging epidemic and pandemic-relevant clinical research, thereby adding value to pre-existing investments. The potential uses of existing clinical networks and emerging pathogen cohorts as resources for preparedness and response will also be explored. Three interlinked themes have been identified for their relevance across the participant groups and represent the specific objectives of the meeting: to improve epidemic research, preparedness and response; to enhance data and sample sharing; and to facilitate sustainability of existing cohorts and clinical trial networks and platforms.
Beyond the participants associated with GloPID-R, this meeting will include the participation of and encourage collaboration with other relevant global organisations, including the World Health Organization (WHO), and other public health and One Health organizations.
