COVID-19 clinical data now available on global platform developed by GloPID-R partner ISARIC & IDDO
The COVID-19 data platform addresses the critical need for data sharing, enabling responsible access to data for new analyses that address knowledge gaps and accelerate the response to COVID-19.
It is one of the largest and most diverse collections of international clinical data on COVID-19 and was developed by ISARIC (the International Severe Acute Respiratory and Emerging Infections Consortium) and IDDO (the Infectious Diseases Data Observatory).
This centralized, secure platform collates individual patient data from clinical care and follow-up, clinical trials and observational research. The data are made available to researchers who can generate new evidence to improve patient care. The platform presently contains over 125,000 individual patient-level data from 33 countries and continues to grow.
Researchers who wish to utilize the data for new analyses can view the types and volumes of data currently available via the platform inventory, then submit an application to the Data Access Committee. The platform is designed to provide rapid access while ensuring data security and privacy.
The data are currently in use to address a variety of research questions including determinants of patient outcomes, variation in symptoms by age group, neurological complications, and mechanisms of acute kidney injury in COVID-19.
New contributions of data are welcomed from health institutions interested in accelerating research to end the pandemic. Those who contribute data will be invited to participate in all uses of the data, enhancing scientific rigour and opportunity for collaboration.
