Calling all funders: What is your preferred data source for Pandemic PACT?
The Pandemic PACT team is excited to report that the project is advancing rapidly and is now ready to pull in new data for the new Research Grants Tracker.
The team would like to rapidly determine each funders’ preference for data acquisition of research grant information. All GloPID-R members, observers and stakeholders are kindly requested to indicate their preferred mode of data input as soon as possible in an email to Daniela Toale.
The Pandemic PACT team can scrape research grant information from publicly available data sources such as funders’ website or grant portals, as well as other portals (such as Europe PMC). There is also the option for direct data provision.
Background
The Pandemic PACT will collate global funding data for a wide range of epidemic-prone diseases and broader epidemic and pandemic preparedness activities on an ongoing basis. The outputs will include an interactive dashboard presenting:
- the research funding landscape mapped to domains and priority roadmaps,
- a comprehensive database complying with FAIR data principles,
- regular analyses of funding trends and research gaps,
- and a standing capability to rapidly identify research needs in the event of a novel outbreak or disease.
These outputs will support evidence-informed decision making and coordination by research funders and key policy stakeholders by directly feeding into GloPID-R’s response plan and regional hubs with the goal of improved efficiency and effectiveness of research responses.
Thank you in advance for your feedback.
