our mission

Our mission is to coordinate and accelerate research funding for epidemic and pandemic preparedness and response. We convene research funders globally, align priorities, enable flexible and rapid coordination, and empower Regional Hubs to ensure equity, trust, and timely impact.

Our objectives

GloPID-R works to strengthen global research preparedness through sustained coordination and alignment between funders. We deliver rapid outbreak research funding coordination to address urgent applied research gaps, while advancing equity and regional ownership by empowering Regional Hubs and ensuring inclusive participation.

GloPID-R (Global Research Collaboration for Infectious Disease Preparedness) is the global coalition of research funders dedicated to epidemic and pandemic preparedness and response. We coordinate and accelerate research funding so that outbreaks with pandemic potential can be prevented, contained, and mitigated through evidence-based action.

As a trusted convener, GloPID-R brings funders together to align priorities, share intelligence, and mobilise funding coordination rapidly when crises emerge. Between pandemics, we sustain preparedness by strengthening collaboration, maintaining active engagement, and demonstrating continuous value to our members. Through Regional Hubs and an inclusive global–regional interface, we embed equity, strengthen representation, particularly from low- and middle-income countries, and support regionally driven research priorities.

We occupy a clearly defined niche in the global health ecosystem: not a research network, a normative body, or an operational responder but the coalition of funders that enables flexible coordination, from independent action to joint calls, while respecting member autonomy.
