ANRS Scientific Facilitation, Strategic Partnersips and Calls for Proposals

Scientific Facilitation

CORCs Filoviruses WHO

Recently appointed by WHO to lead the Collaborative Open Research Consortium (CORC) on filoviruses, ANRS MIE continues to advance global preparedness through this new mandate as a WHO Collaborating Center. Two expert meetings have already been held: one focused on filovirus reservoirs, and another on pathophysiology and disease models. Two additional global CORC meetings are planned for later this year, covering diagnostics, and treatments and vaccines. The outputs of these CORC activities will help inform the scope and priorities of future GloPID-R calls for proposals.

Strategic Projects

CoMeCT – Outbreak Response Board- ToR

The ANRS MIE is involved in the CSA CoMeCT (Coordination Mechanism for Cohorts and Trials), globally coordinated by Norway, which aims to coordinate clinical research efforts at the European level.

Particularly, the ANRS MIE co-leads the Outbreak Response Board (ORB), which is responsible for developing decision-making frameworks for clinical research responses in case of infectious disease outbreaks, and providing scientific assessments of research needs in response to the aforementioned outbreaks. In the last 6 months, the ORB has worked with the European Commission to identify clinical research priorities for Mpox (in the context of the August 2024 Public Health Emergency of International Concern) and H5N1 (following the rapid spread of avian influenza in the US).

Partnership BE READY and BE READY PLUS

The ANRS MIE is coordinating the CSA BE READY since 2022 and the CSA BE READY PLUS as of 2025, both funded by Horizon Europe and aiming to prepare the future European Partnership on Pandemic Preparedness.

In the framework of BE READY, the ANRS MIE has led the development of the Strategic Research and Innovation Agenda (SRIA), which will be a guiding scientific document for the future Partnership. An online consultation on the SRIA was held in Fall 2024 to collect feedback from the research community, diverse stakeholders, policymakers and the broader public interest.

Within the framework of BE READY PLUS, the ANRS MIE will contribute to establishing the operational foundation for the future Partnership, with a particular focus on shaping its scientific strategy and supporting the development of a permanent European network of clinical research sites.

The BE READY NOW proposal for the European Partnership for Pandemic Preparedness has been positively evaluated by the European Commission and is currently in the Grant Agreement Preparation phase.

Call for Projects

ANRS MIE opens calls for projects throughout the year. For more information, please consult the ANRS calendar.

Call for Proposals 2025 for the Priority Research Programme and Equipment for Emerging Infectious Diseases

The ANRS Emerging Infectious Diseases is launching its third call for proposals of the Priority Research Programme and Equipment on Emerging Infectious Diseases (PEPR MIE), Measure 2 of the National Strategy for Accelerating Emerging Infectious Diseases and Nuclear, Radiological, Biological and Chemical (SA MIE MN) Threats supported by France 2030. Following the success of the calls for proposals launched in 2023 and 2024, which respectively funded 11 projects for €22M and 9 projects for €16M, this call for proposals follows on from these calls and targets the three founding strands of the PEPR MIE.
