GLOPID-R

Area of action

Yellow fever

In 2016, when a yellow fever outbreak occurred in Angola, Democratic Republic of the Congo and other African countries, there was a risk of a temporary shortage of available vaccines. Our coalition of funders joined forces with other international organizations to develop a coordinated response.

Our response

GloPID-R mobilized its members in “response mode” as experts from around the world came together to develop recommendations for research funders.

Twelve organizations joined in this collaborative effort:

  • European Commission (EC)
  • Institut National de la Santé et de la Recherche Médicale (INSERM), France
  • Instituto de Salud Carlos III, Spain
  • Wellcome Trust, UK
  • Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation (BMGF), US
  • U.S. Department of Health and Human Services
  • World Health Organization (WHO)
  • Department for International Development (DFID), UK
  • The European & Developing Countries Clinical Trials Partnership (EDCTP)
  • U.S. National Institutes of Health (NIH)
