GloPID-R Working Group
GloPID-R Working Group
Epidemic and pandemic response in low-resource settings
To support a coordinated approach to research funding for preparedness for and response to the current COVID-19 pandemics and future epidemics/ pandemics in LMICs. To coordinate capacity strengthening efforts among funders of research in LMICs. To facilitate exchange of ideas on aligning funding to the research needs of LMICs.
This working group was formed during the COVID-19 pandemic from the COVID CIRCLE Initiative. The working group’s focus has however now expanded to include broader research for preparedness and response to epidemics and pandemics, as the COVID-19 pandemic has highlighted the importance of a global approach to pandemic preparedness and response research. The group has elected to focus on two priority areas in the short-term. These are Research Priority Setting and Coordinated Funding. Work on these topics is under way and will provide best practice standards and recommendations to the GloPID-R membership and the broader funders’ community.
The GloPID-R Secretariat is a project which receives funding from the European Union’s Horizon Europe research and innovation programme under grant agreement No 101094188.
