WHO declared the outbreak a Public Health Emergency of International Concern (PHEIC) following the spread of COVID-19 from the People’s Republic of China to 20 other countries in the first 6 weeks of 2020.

WHO Office in China is informed that cases of pneumonia of an unknown cause had been detected in Wuhan City, Hubei Province, China. The number of confirmed cases of COVID-19 increased rapidly across the globe.
