November 2024 Wellcome funding catalysing progress in Nipah and Lassa Research

Two key publications emerged from Wellcome’s support of CIDRAP’s work on the WHO Blueprint Roadmap for Nipah and Lassa viruses. Published as Personal Views in The Lancet Infectious Diseases (July 2024), these papers provide valuable insights from leading global experts.

Additionally, reflecting the WHO Blueprint’s shift to viral families, CIDRAP published adapted versions of the Nipah roadmap and Lassa roadmap on their website in July 2024. These resources offer a comprehensive overview of research priorities for these critical public health threats.

Wellcome holds Workshop for Stakeholders

In May 2024, Wellcome hosted a workshop for stakeholders in the schistosomiasis space. The event, held on May 20th at the Wellcome Collection, and offered in a hybrid format, had over 60 participants including researchers, policymakers, funders, and representatives from key organisations.

The value of the workshop lay in its timely focus on both the considerable advances being made towards global goals for schistosomiasis and the emerging challenges, such as those posed by climate change and potential treatment resistance.
