GLOPID-R

Data Sharing Working Group

A new project digging into different funder policies related to data sharing during public health emergencies and an in-depth analysis on data sharing during ID outbreaks.

Wellcome has commissioned a review to better understand funder policies on data sharing in public health emergencies on behalf of the data sharing working group. GloPID-R members have nominated colleagues to participate in the fact-finding calls for the review, with a total of 15 completed so far. Many thanks to those who have participated in this review to inform the work of the data sharing working group to which aims to explore aligning funder requirements and conditions in the long term.

Wellcome is hosting a workshop on December 5, 2018 to bring together the six retrospective case studies to understand and analyze data-sharing practices in a range of contexts (Cholera, Ebola, MERS CoV, Yellow Fever|) and one case study on zika data sharing. The workshop will explore data sharing barriers and enablers and what approaches could be adopted to promote timely data sharing that informs the response to outbreaks. The findings of the case studies and recommendations from the workshop will inform the development of future activities and priorities for the working group.
