GLOPID-R

U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) CREID, a collaborative network of emerging infectious disease research centers in outbreak-prone areas of the globe

The Centers for Research in Emerging Infectious Diseases (CREID) is a network of emerging infectious disease research centers in regions around the globe where emerging and re-emerging infectious disease outbreaks are likely to occur.

In a spirit of coordination and cooperation, CREID aims to support pandemic preparedness research and pivot to outbreak responsive research when viral pathogens of human health concern emerge. Multidisciplinary teams of investigators are conducting pathogen/host surveillance, studying pathogen transmission dynamics, pathogenesis and immunologic responses in the host, conducting natural history studies, and developing reagents and diagnostic assays for improved detection of important emerging pathogens and their vectors.

The CREID network was established in 2020 by the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Disease (NIAID). NIAID is part of NIH, an agency of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS).

Sara E. Woodson, NIAID’s Team Lead for the CREID network program, invites all GloPID-R members to learn more about CREID by subscribing to its newsletter.
